Your teeth have been prepared for porcelain veneers. Temporary veneers may have been placed while your final porcelain veneers are being fabricated.
Immediately After Preparation:
- If local anesthesia was used, avoid chewing until numbness wears off.
Sensitivity & Comfort
- Some sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure is normal.
- Use toothpaste for sensitive teeth if needed.
- Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken as directed.
Eating & Drinking
- Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods (e.g. gum, caramel, taffy, ice).
- Avoid biting directly into foods with the temporary veneers.
Care of Temporary Veneers
- Avoid pulling floss up between teeth, instead slide the floss out.
- Brush gently but with particular attention to the gumline.
- Use picksters with toothpaste or Savacol in between the temporary veneers.
What to Avoid
- Do not bite fingernails, pens, or other hard objects.
- Avoid using your teeth as tools.
- Avoid foods that may stain temporaries (e.g. coffee, tea, red wine).
Call Our Office If:
- A temporary veneer comes off or breaks.
- You experience severe or increasing pain.
- Your bite feels very uneven or uncomfortable.
